Tampa - A man accused of firing an assault rifle on the streets of Plant City Friday during a massive manhunt was denied bail today on multiple charges.

Fransisco Rangel, 25, of Tampa was held at the Orient Road Jail today. He is charged with felony first-degree murder, several counts of attempted first-degree murder of a law enforcement officer and several counts of shooting at or into a vehicle.

Warrants also charge Rangel with felony second-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder, jail records show.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said Rangel fatally shot Michael James Longoria, 36, and wounded an unidentified man at a Plant City home on Thursday.

As detectives attempted to arrest him Friday, Rangel opened fire with an AK-47, disabling two detectives' cars and killing a bystander, 58-year-old Candelario Lagunes, the sheriff's office said.

Investigators caught Rangel on Friday after a manhunt lasting more than six hours.
