Aerobic workouts have been around for decades and Jazzercise is one of its biggest names. The cardio workouts and the music change every 14 weeks to keep participants interested and challenged, says Danielle Mazur, a Jazzercise instructor in Brandon. The dancing aspect of Jazzercise makes you forget that what you're doing is good for you, she says.
"You almost don't know you're working out," she says. "But then you take five steps and you're sweating."
This exercise focuses on the deltoids, lats and core.
EXERCISE: LATERAL DELT LIFT
Stand with feet together, toes and knees forward, knees slightly bent.
Start and finish with elbows at your side holding weights vertically. Raise right elbow 90 degrees while torso leans to left. Let your core pull you back up to center, and reverse.
Important tip: Don't let weight drop below elbow level. It will cause shoulder joint to turn internally.
