Kim Levell is an exterior decorator: She creates outdoor living spaces "with something beautiful to look at everywhere your eyes fall."
This year, she and her clients are sharing five of her favorite creations to benefit one of her favorite charities, Cornerstone Kids. The result is the Levell Design Charity Garden Tour from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
The gardens, all in South Tampa, include a Caribbean-French inspiration; Georgian-style courtyard; meandering Key West space; "Hong Kong minus the mountains"; and a tropical island paradise. One of the homes, which is decked out for the holidays, will be open, too. And tour-goers have chances to win a large Italian imported pot with lemon garland and gift cards to area shops.
The tour is self-guided. Tickets are $20 in advance and available by calling (813) 832-5463, or by visiting Spa Jardin, Bluemoon, Pane Rustica, Bloom, Cafe Hey and Fly Bar, downtown. On the day of the tour, tickets are $25 and available at the first garden, the Ryan residence at 2603 W. Morrison Ave.
Proceeds benefit Cornerstone Kids, a program that helps inner-city youngsters get - and stay - on a path to college.
"They work really hard to get good grades to stay in the program," Levell says of the children. "Even though we are buying them gifts for Christmas, they will be gifts of clothing, shoes, books and other necessities."
