The front that moved over West Central Florida and scattered a smidgen of rain here and there is well to our south now, which means the cool air behind it is starting to settle in.
Even with the clear skies today and plenty of sunshine, temperatures won't go too high today, maybe reaching the middle 60s around the Tampa Bay area and maybe not even the 60s around the Nature Coast.
The weather service expects another chilly night around the Tampa Bay area with lows hitting the 40s and even upper 30s away from the Bay.
In Pasco, it looks like a border-line freeze in the typically colder eastern parts of the county. Forecasts call for temperatures to drop to a few degrees above freezing. So if you're in a place that gets colder than the forecast, you know what to expect.
Up in Hernando, forecasters are on the fence about just how cold it will get. They've issued a freeze watch, meaning you could see freezing temperatures for a couple hours. But they're not sure if winds will drop enough to allow temperatures to drop to below freezing for long enough to bump things up to a freeze warning, which is for a longer period of freezing temperatures.
Either way, it's going to be close and might be worth taking care of plants if you're in the central or eastern parts of the county.
If the wind does drop enough, you might see areas of frost north of Hillsborough, even if freezing temperatures don't linger more than an hour or so.
