Skaters Spin In To Tampa Competition

Skateboarding isn't just an extreme sport. It's a fashion statement. It's an attitude. It's a way of life.
That much was clear this weekend when about 200 amateur skateboarders converged on Skatepark of Tampa to show off their mad skills by flipping their boards, sliding down railings and doing other tricks in the Tampa Am.
Skatepark of Tampa hosts the event annually but this year's was a month earlier than its normal time, officially kicking off with qualifiers on Friday. The Tampa Am is a big event in the skating world, with the winner likely to turn pro. The skateboarding event continues today.
