LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Even a case of tired legs wasn't going to stop No. 9 Louisville.
Freshman Samardo Samuels scored 15 points and Earl Clark added six points, six rebounds and five assists to lead the Cardinals to a 78-56 victory over Lamar on Monday night in the final game of the Marques Maybin Classic.
Louisville (5-1) won its third game in three days by outlasting Lamar (6-3), though it made the Cardinals work for it.
NO. 19 GEORGETOWN 100,
SAVANNAH STATE 38
WASHINGTON - DaJuan Summers, Jessie Sapp and Austin Freeman all had 14 points and Greg Monroe added 13 as No. 19 Georgetown (6-1) romped over Savannah State (5-4).
The Hoyas shot 69.8 percent from the field (37 of 53) and held Savannah State to 22.8 percent (16 of 53).
WOMEN
NO. 10 BAYLOR 83, LAMAR 36
WACO, Texas - Danielle Wilson had 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead No. 10 Baylor (8-1) to victory over Lamar (5-2).
The Lady Bears started the game with a 24-2 run over the first 12 minutes. Lamar didn't hit its second field goal until 7:53 remained in the first half.
NO. 14 RUTGERS 45,
GEORGIA 34
PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Junior guard Epiphanny Prince scored 14 points to become the sixth-fastest player in school history to reach 1,000 points and lead No. 14 Rutgers (4-2) to victory over Georgia (7-3) in the Jimmy V Classic.
Prince became the 28th player in Rutgers' history to reach 1,000 points, needing only 76 games to do it.
