Tebow Says Title Won't Be Factor

GAINESVILLE - With the increasing possibility that QB Tim Tebow could add a second Heisman Trophy and national championship to his resume, speculation has grown that he could forego his senior season and enter the NFL draft.

As far as Tebow is concerned, though, another national championship wouldn't affect his decision.

"I don't think so," Tebow said. "I thought in the preseason it would. Not really so any more. Win or lose, I still want to stay another year here.

"But it also would be great and really fun to go to the next level and see how that goes, too. It's like two great things now."

Tebow, who is a devout Christian, does realize that going to the NFL could give him a larger platform to minster to others.

"I don't want to leave here, but if I get blessed and have an opportunity to do a lot of things financially, I could do so many great things as far as organizations and community work, stuff I've always dreamed of doing with that money," Tebow said.

NELSON EMERGES: One of the interesting developments in recent weeks has been the emergence of WR David Nelson. After catching just four passes for 35 yards and no touchdowns last season, Nelson has 10 receptions for 195 yards and four touchdowns.

While those numbers are less than eye-popping the majority of them have come in recent weeks in big games against Florida State and Alabama, including a TD catch in the SEC Championship Game.

According to Nelson, it's never been a question of his talent, but of confidence and work ethic.

"I've just gained more confidence in myself and my teammates have been pulling for me," Nelson said. "They'll say you've been here for three years and we know what you can do. I'd go out on the practice field and do well and in the game it wouldn't happen. They told me to translate what I was doing on the practice field to the game."
