Former Olympic gymnast Shannon Miller is the newest board member of the Florida Sports Foundation.
The 31-year-old was named to the board Thursday by Gov. Charlie Crist.
A Missouri native, Miller won five medals at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, Spain, and a gold medal in the 1996 balance beam competition in Atlanta. She moved to Jacksonville two years ago.
The Florida Sports Foundation is the state's official sports promotion and development organization under the auspices of the governor's office and a 15-member board.
Crist also named Rich Heffley to the board. Heffley is a Republican strategist and lobbyist who represents U.S. Sugar, AT&T and the Florida Medical Association.
