Sarasota deputies have arrested a man they say raped a 15-year-old girl at gunpoint earlier this month.
The teen had left her aunt's Newtown home to meet up with a friend in the early morning of Dec. 1. As she walked back, an armed man jumped out of the bushes near 27th Street and U.S. 301, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies say the man told the teen to walk to his car. The girl told deputies the man forced himself on her and that she was afraid that if she didn't do as he asked, he would shoot her.
Marcoust Dula, 36, was arrested Wednesday night in Sarasota and is charged with sexual battery of a child, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, grand theft and kidnapping. He is being held in the Sarasota County Jail without bail.
