A New York company has issued a recall on pork products imported from Ireland and shipped to stores in Florida and six other states, the U.S. Department of Agricultural said today.
Long Island-based Tommy Moloney's Inc. is recalling 4,041 pounds of fresh pork that may be contaminated with dioxins, according to USDA food inspectors.
Inspectors say the health risks for eating the possibly contaminated products are low.
The product involved in the recall is Tommy Moloney's Traditional Irish Breakfast Bacon. The label bears the establishment number "EST. 33789" inside the U.S. mark of inspection as well as a sell-by date between Dec. 15, 2008 and Jan. 31, 2009.
The pork was processed in Ireland between Sept. 1 and Dec. 7 and then exported to this country. The bacon was shipped to retail stores in Florida, California, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York and Virginia.
Consumers can call Tommy Moloney Inc. President Bill Colbert at (718) 326-2100 for more information.
