Religious and secular decorations alike get vandalized or stolen during the holiday season, but thanks to modern technology it is becoming a lot easier to prevent or resolve holiday heists.
SEASON'S STEALINGS
The anti-fir lobby: On Dec. 2, someone stole 14 fir trees from a Christmas tree lot in Lutz.
No more horsing around: Sometime between Friday and Saturday, someone stole a ceramic horse yard decoration from a house on Addison Chase Drive in Riverview. A palm tree, two large ceramic Christmas elephant decorations and Christmas lights were also damaged.
Reindeer wrangled: On Friday or Saturday, someone stole a reindeer ornament from a home on Limerick Drive in Tampa.
They wanted the car: On Saturday, a car was taken from a Largo home, and there just happened to be a plastic Christmas tree inside.
Gone today, here tomorrow: On Saturday, two Christmas trees and an inflatable Santa Claus disappeared in Indian Rocks Beach. They later turned up, miraculously.
Can you say Grinch? On Dec. 1, the following were taken from a home in Largo: a Christmas tree, a wreath, a pretend snowman, reindeer, a nativity scene and Christmas lights.
Santa vandalized: On Saturday, in Seminole, vandals attacked an inflatable Santa, some reindeer and the trailer they were pulling.
Robbing the cradle: A $30 baby Jesus statue was stolen from a manger Tuesday outside a home on Casaba Loop in Valrico.

HOLIDAY HOOLIGANS
Penguins pummeled: Someone damaged two large yard ornaments and a "hot air balloon with penguins yard ornament" on Friday at a home on Evening Sunset Lane in Riverview.
Lights out: On Sunday, someone damaged Christmas tree lights in the front yard of a house on Rosemount Drive in Tampa. The lights were pulled from a homemade PVC mounting frame and dragged into the street, causing $125 in damage.
