TAMPA - The man who died Thursday after his vehicle veered off southbound Interstate 75 has been identified as Ronald K. Fanning.
Fanning, 59, of Gibsonton was killed about 5:37 p.m. when his 1995 Toyota Camry suddenly left the west shoulder of the road, went down an embankment and crashed into a tree, said Sgt. Steve
Gaskins, spokesman for the Florida Highway Patrol.
Gaskins said Fanning wasn't wearing a seatbelt.
The crash, which happened near mile marker 251 north of Gibsonton Drive, is under investigation. Gaskins said authorities don't know what caused Fanning to swerve off the highway.
