ST. PETERSBURG - A man on probation for fondling a girl was arrested this morning on charges he sexually assaulted a mentally challenged teenager who is the daughter of a friend, police said.
Benjamin Levy, 57, of St. Petersburg, was charged with sexual battery and committing a lewd and lascivious act on a disabled person, according to Pinellas County Jail records. He was also charged with violating his probation in a 1997 case in which he was convicted of committing a lewd and lascivious act on a child younger than 16.
Levy was being held without bail at the jail.
Levy assaulted the mentally challenged 18-year-old woman Dec. 2, St. Petersburg police spokesman George Kajtsa said. Further details were not being released, as they would identify the victim.
In 2003, Levy violated his probation in the 1997 case and was sentenced to an additional five years of probation and ordered not to have unsupervised contact with minors, records state. This year, as his probation was nearing an end, it was extended for 30 months.
