The first of thousands of needy families began picking up meals and toys today at Metropolitan Ministries' annual Holiday Center.
The nonprofit agency bought $15,000 worth of food with donated gift cards, but officials said supplies of food and toys quickly are running low. The Holiday Center distribution continues through Dec. 24.
Donations can be dropped off at the center, 210 N. Florida Ave., from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. For information about other drop-off sites, call (813) 209-1000.
