Published: December 13, 2008

TAMPA - A career day for University of Tampa men's player Fred Woods was all the Spartans needed as they beat Emmanuel (Ga.) College 90-76 Friday night at the Tampa Prep gymnasium.

Woods finished with 37 points and 18 rebounds, marking the most points for a Spartan since Jeremy Black recorded 37 against Eckerd on Feb. 20, 2008. The performance ranks second on UT's all-time single-game scoring list to Todd Linder's 45. Woods' performance also included team highs of 10 offensive rebounds and seven blocked shots.

Matt Tomaszewski had a career-high 14 points, while Johnathan Ball and Anthony LaBruno each added 12 points for UT (5-1).

MIAMI 76, FIU 50
CORAL GABLES - James Dews had 15 points, Jack McClinton scored 12 and Miami routed Florida International.

Eddie Rios added 10 points, and Lance Hurdle had eight points as the Hurricanes improved to 12-1 in their series against Florida International.
Michael Dominguez had 15 points and six rebounds for the Golden Panthers, who had a few hundred fans make the short drive only to be quieted by the orange-and-green-clad Hurricanes crowd.

Hobbled by injuries to all five starters, Florida International (4-6) was outmanned and overmatched by Miami. The Hurricanes (6-2) kept the pressure on, wearing down the Golden Panthers with an up-tempo style and holding the Golden Panthers to 30 percent shooting from the floor (16-for-53).

ECKERD 88,

FLORIDA COLLEGE 52

ST. PETERSBURG - Eckerd freshman swingman Kornilous Donnell came off to bench to score a career- and game-high 13 points while Zaronn Cann registered his first double-double of the season with 11 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Eckerd Tritons (5-3) past the Florida College Falcons (5-6) on Friday night at the McArthur Center.

Stanley Kelley led Florida College with 11 points while Joey Anderkavich scored 10 points and grabbed eight rebounds off the bench.

No. 23 Gators Women Roll

GAINESVILLE - Sha Brooks scored 12 points, Sharielle Smith added 11 and No. 23 Florida extended its winning streak to 10 games with a 77-55 victory against Florida A&M on Friday night.

Marshae Dotson and Lonnika Thompson added nine points each for the Gators (10-1), who used a 20-3 run midway through the first half to turn a five-point game into a rout.

Stephanie Foster led the Rattlers (4-3) with 21 points.
