Tampa Man With Handgun Charged After 5 Shots Heard

Witnesses heard five gunshots and later saw Andres Chavez pull a silver handgun from the front of his jeans, wave it in the air and throw it to the ground Monday night, Hillsborough County deputies say.
Chavez told investigators he owned the gun and shot it, according to a criminal arrest affidavit. He doesn't have a concealed weapons permit.
Deputies arrested Chavez at 11:13 p.m. at 9524 Linebaugh Ave.
Which searching him, deputies found a bag in his left jeans pocket containing marijuana, the affidavit states.
Chavez, 43, of Tampa, was charged with discharging a firearm in public, carrying a concealed firearm, improper exhibition of a firearm and possession of marijuana.
He remained in Orient Road Jail today. His bail was set at $3,500.
