OK, dancing queens, put on the white spandex and sing your heart out in the safety of your own home. "Mamma Mia!" hits DVD shelves today.
You can also expand your Academy Award knowledge with an Oscar history book and share the madness with the newest CD from Fall Out Boy.
DVDS
"Mamma Mia!": It got mediocre reviews, but audiences didn't care. Meryl Streep headlines as a laid-back innkeeper whose daughter (Amanda Seyfried) invites three men (Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth and Stellan Skarsgaard) to her upcoming nuptials, hoping to discover which one is her father. Prepare to sing along.
"The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor": Yetis, three-headed dragons, spectral armies and the fondness for over-the-top special effects and outrageous plot twists fill this installment of the "Mummy" series. Brendan Fraser is back, but Rachel Weisz isn't. Oh, and did we mention Jet Li appears?
"The House Bunny": Go figure, this movie is charming. Anna Faris stars as a Playboy Bunny who gets kicked out of the Mansion when she reaches the venerable age of 27, finding refuge as the house mother for the world's least cool sorority.
"Dr. Horrible's Sing-along Blog": During the writers strike, Neil Patrick Harris and friends became Internet sensations with this musical entry.
"Burn After Reading": A wacky caper about CIA docments and blackmail starring George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Frances McDormand.
BOOKS
"Street Gang: The Complete History of Sesame Street": Author and former TV Guide editor Michael Davis examines all things furry in this 40-year look back at the development and enduring success of this influential children's show. We can only hope Grover gets his due.
"80 Years of the Oscar: The Official History of the Academy Awards": Robert Osborne, longtime columnist for the Hollywood Reporter, puts the reader into the plush seats of the Oscar ceremony from the first in 1928 to this year's 80th anniversary. The book includes lists of all nominees and winners, quotes from notable speeches and those unexpected moments from the flasher in 1974 to Adrian Brody laying a wet kiss on Halle Berry in 2003.
"President Obama Election 2008: A Collection of Newspaper Front Pages Selected by the Poynter Institute": Celebrate a historic day in the American experience with this collection of front pages from Nov. 5, 2008.
CDS
"Folie a Deux," by Fall Out Boy: The fifth studio album from the pop group is a madness shared by two, or in this case, four. Oh, and keep an ear out for superstar appearances by Debbie Harry and Lil Wayne.
"When the World Comes Down," by The All-American Rejects: The band from Oklahoma has had many Top 10 singles, but they still aren't a household name. They are hoping this CD, their third, featuring "Gives You Hell," changes all that.
