Boys Basketball: 3-Pointers Key Rams' Rout of Gators, 91-60

LAND O’ LAKES - After sifting through all the fouls, free throws and physical play in a typically tough Class 5A-District 7 showdown, Ridgewood coach Gary Anders thought his team has reached a new high point this season.

The victim, Land O' Lakes, simply couldn't keep up with the Rams' sharp-shooting, high-powered offense that romped, 91-60, on Wednesday night.

"We shot the ball really, really well," Ridgewood coach Gary Anders. "And I do think we did a better job tonight against better players."

Any hopes the Gators had to gain an early lead on favored Ridgewood (7-2, 4-0) in Class 5A-District 7 disappeared in a flood of Rams' 3-pointers and a drought from their own top scorers.

The Rams, who have now won six in a row, had 11 3-pointers in all, five for Jacob Rauh, who was one of four Ridgewood players in double-figures. Rauh's first two 3-pointers came back-to-back in the first quarter, and started a 13-3 Rams run that quickly escalated into a blowout.

Meanwhile, Land O' Lakes' (6-3, 3-2) top two scorers, Kevin Burnell and Quentin Bastian, were a combined 0-for-14 from the field in the first half and could only muster a single point before the break.

"When you can't make any shots, against a good team, those guys played their butts off and we're not going to get any second opportunities," Gators coach Dave Puhalski said.

Ridgewood guard Alvin Satram was the game's leading scorer with 22 points, adding 11 assists and five steals in what Anders described as his "best floor game" as a prep player. Center Lukas Poderis added 19 points and 14 rebounds and also drew high praise from the coach for his toughness inside.

The chippy third quarter, which saw the Rams outscore the Gators 34-19, was tainted by three Land O' Lakes technical fouls, but no ejections. There were 53 total fouls, including four technicals, called in the contest.

Land O' Lakes is scheduled to play Mitchell today, while Ridgewood will play Fort Myers Bishop Verot on Thursday in the Outback Steakhouse Invitational at Berkeley Prep.
