TAMPA - Quarterback Jeff Garcia took the first team reps in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' early morning walkthrough at One Buc Place today. Barring a setback, he'll probably do the same come Sunday when the Bucs host San Diego in a must-win game for both teams.
Garcia, who missed Sunday's game with a lower calf injury, said he feels good enough to practice this week, which means he should be ready to play against the Chargers.
"I feel OK; I'm going to practice,'' he said. "I'm going to practice, so I plan on being ready for Sunday.''
Linebacker Derrick Brooks' status is not as clear. Brooks, who has not missed a game in his 14 NFL seasons, injured his ribs against the Falcons. He was not made available to the media during today's open locker-room session. It won't be known until this afternoon if he's practicing or not.
One defensive regular who will be practicing and does plan to play Sunday is nose tackle Chris Hovan. He missed Sunday's game with a sore knee, but he said he is much improved.
"It's like night and day the way I feel this week compared to last week,'' Hovan said.
