TAMPA - Hillsborough County Commissioner Rose Ferlita has rejoined the Tampa Port Authority board of commissioners, replacing Brian Blair, who was defeated by Kevin Beckner in his bid for re-election to the commission seat last month.
County commissioners chose Ferlita to regain the post on the port authority board she held from November 2006 to November 2007. She participated in the port authority meeting Tuesday.
In November 2007, the commission chose Blair, over Ferlita, to represent the county on the board, despite Ferlita's preference to remain on it.
Ferlita's term with the port ends in November 2009.
The remaining members of the port board retained their assignments for the coming year in a vote of the board on Tuesday: Lawrence Shipp, chairman; Brian Dolan, vice chairman; and Carl Lindell, secretary/treasurer.
Tampa Mayor Pam Iorio, Stephen Swindal and William "Hoe" Brown also serve on the board.
