More Parking For Channel District
Manhattan Construction Co., which is building the Dallas Cowboys' new stadium in Arlington, Texas, and has a regional office in Tampa, was selected Tuesday to negotiate with the Tampa Port Authority for a contract to expand the 2,500-space Channelside parking garage by 700 spaces.
The terms of the contract will be negotiated, but port authority staff had estimated construction would cost about $7 million.
The authority board on Tuesday also approved an $8.3 million contract with John Carlo Inc. of Tampa for a 14.5-acre expansion of the port's container cargo facility.
Cold Supplement Maker Settles Suit
The maker of Airborne dietary supplements has agreed to pay $7 million to settle allegations by 32 states, including Florida, that it made false claims about the benefits of its fruit-flavored products. Airborne Health has agreed to discontinue any claims about the "health benefit, performance, efficacy or safety" of its supplements in preventing and treating colds and other ailments.
Delta Offers Wireless Internet
Delta Air Lines is now offering wireless Internet service on six aircraft flying between New York and Boston and New York and Washington and plans to expand the service throughout its fleet in 2009. The cost is $9.95 on flights of three hours or less and $12.95 for longer flights.
