AUSTIN, Texas - A.J. Abrams scored 27 points and Dexter Pittman added 19 to lead No. 5 Texas to an 88-72 victory against Texas Southern on Tuesday night.
Abrams had 16 points in the second half and Pittman added 15 for the Longhorns (9-1), who led 35-34 at halftime.
The Tigers (0-9) opened the second half with a full-court press, and Pittman capitalized as the center scored 11 points in a 10-minute span.
Matthew Miller led Texas Southern with 21 points, 10 over his season average.
Freshman Varez Ward had 12 points, seven assists and five rebounds for Texas.
VALDOSTA STATE 80, TAMPA 79: Ryan Nelson's 3-pointer at the buzzer gave host Valdosta State (10-1) a victory against the University of Tampa (5-3) despite Rashad Callaway's 31 points for the Spartans.
Callaway matched his career high in points, going 10-for-18 from the field including three 3-pointers.
With the game tied at 77 and 11 seconds left, Tampa's Anthony LaBruno was fouled and made a pair of free throws.
CLEMSON 76, NORTH FLORIDA 36: Trevor Booker had 16 points and 10 rebounds to help No. 25 Clemson move to 11-0 for the third time in four seasons with a victory against North Florida (0-8).
Duke Women Edge Stanford
DURHAM, N.C. - Karima Christmas scored 10 of her career-high 14 points in the second half and chased down the critical rebound that led No. 8 Duke past No. 3 Stanford 56-52.
Chante Black added 14 points for the Blue Devils (7-1), who never trailed in the second half in snapping Stanford's six-game winning streak. Duke improved its nonconference record at Cameron Indoor Stadium to 53-4 over the past eight seasons.
Jayne Appel had 16 points and 10 rebounds for Stanford (7-2).
BAYLOR 73, TEXAS-PAN AMERICAN 27: Danielle Wilson had 23 points, 11 rebounds and five blocked shots and No. 7 Baylor (10-1), playing without injured leading scorer Rachel Allison, beat Texas-Pan American (5-5).
PITTSBURGH 98, WAGNER 41: Shavonte Zellous scored 26 points to lead five Pittsburgh players in double figures and the 16th-ranked Panthers (8-1) scored 36 points off 26 turnovers to defeat Wagner (3-5).
OHIO STATE 68, DELAWARE STATE 35: Jantel Lavender had a season-high 29 points and 11 rebounds to lead No. 18 Ohio State (9-2) past Delaware State (2-6).
OKLAHOMA STATE 58, ORAL ROBERTS 48: Andrea Riley scored a season-low 14 points but No. 22 Oklahoma State (5-2) avoided an upset by defeating in-state rival Oral Roberts (5-5).
