Tampa police are looking for three men accused of forcing Wachovia bank employees at gunpoint to open a safe.
The attempted robbery occurred at 7:52 a.m. Tuesday at 214 S. Hyde Park Ave. Police say one of the men entered the bank and pointed a gun at two employees. The other men entered after the employees and premises were secured, detectives say.
The employees then were forced to open a safe. When the safe opened, the alarm sounded and the men quickly left, police say.
No one was hurt.
The men were in a burgundy four-door vehicle.
Police gave these descriptions:
A black man about 30 years old and 6 feet 3 inches tall and of large build. Clean-shaven with short hair. Wearing a dark baseball cap, sunglasses, white long-sleeve dress shirt, dark pants and white sneakers. He had a black pistol.
A black man about 23 years old and 5 feet 7 inches tall and of large to medium build. Clean-shaven with short hair. Wearing a dark baseball cap, sunglasses, dark sweatshirt, bluejeans and dark sneakers.
A black man about 18 years old and 5 feet 7 inches tall and of small to medium build. Short hair and a scruffy goatee and facial hair. Wearing a dark ski cap, burgundy dress shirt, dark pants and tan boots. He had a dark backpack.
