Mamma Mia! **
Mediocre reviews weren't enough to keep audiences away from this big-screen adaptation of the stage sensation, loosely based on the ABBA songbook and set on a Greek island. Meryl Streep headlines as a laid-back innkeeper whose daughter (Amanda Seyfried) invites three men to her upcoming nuptials, hoping to discover which one is her father.
PG-13, 108 minutes
The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor *
The fan base for the "Mummy" movies is unlikely to mind that Rachel Weisz passed on reprising her role as Mrs. Brendan Fraser, leaving the part to Maria Bello, especially since they get Jet Li as part of the trade. Also on hand: yetis, three-headed dragons, spectral armies and the fondness for over-the-top special effects.
PG-13, 111 minutes
The House Bunny **½
Anna Faris stars as a Playboy Bunny who gets kicked out of the Mansion when she reaches the venerable age of 27, finding refuge as the house mother for the world's least cool sorority. The Zetas are mostly casting curiosities - an American Idol runner-up, one of Bruce and Demi's kids - but Faris won raves for her comedic chops, in spite of the predictable script.
PG-13, 98 minutes
