Super Bowl Will Use Renewable Power Super Bowl XLIII and the five-day NFL Experience festival will be powered with electricity made from renewable resources in Florida, Tampa Electric Co. said Wednesday.
The utility said it has a deal with the Tampa Sports Authority to supply Super Bowl activities with solar power and power made from wood waste.
Cypress Gardens Patrons Get A Perk
Cypress Gardens patrons with season passes will be admitted free to Silver Springs in Ocala through Dec. 31 - with the exception of Christmas Day, when the Marion County attraction is closed. Cypress Gardens closed temporarily in November and is scheduled to reopen in the spring after altering its concept to focus on its water attraction.
1,400 Out Of A Job At Georgia Tire Plant
With tax incentives and worker concessions, four cities in four states vied to keep their Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. plant open after the Ohio-based company said the economy would cause it to shutter one of its U.S. plants.
Albany, Ga., lost out and 1,400 workers will be cut, the company said. Workers in Texarkana, Ark.; Tupelo, Miss.; and Findlay, Ohio; were relieved.
