TAMPA - A 19-year-old man was charged with second-degree murder late Thursday after he told detectives he shot another 19-year-old on his lawn, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.
Kristopher D. Sanders, of 850 Rocky Mountain Court, Valrico, was being held without bail at the Orient Road Jail this morning, records show.
The sheriff's office said Sanders shot Tyrie Gunn, of 4704 Little Denise Court, Valrico, about 7:30 p.m. Thursday during an argument.
Sanders got a .45-caliber pistol from his house when he saw Gunn approaching and waited for him at the front door, the sheriff's office said. As words were exchanged, Sanders shot Gunn once in the chest and once in the head.
Gunn collapsed about 40 feet from the house and died.
Sanders gave conflicting statements about the dispute, including one version relating a connection to a drug deal, sheriff's spokesman J.D. Callaway said.
