The Pinellas County Sheriff's office charged a St. Pete Beach man Sunday morning with Saturday night's killing of his estranged wife and a man she recently started dating.
Detectives arrested Patrick A. Evans on two charges of first-degree murder in the shooting deaths of Elizabeth Evans, 44, and Gerald Taylor, 43, the sheriff's office said.
Investigators started questioning Patrick Evans Sunday morning.
Deputies came to the home of Elizabeth Evans in the Sea Ketch condominium complex at 6080 Gulfport Blvd. S. just after 7 p.m. Saturday in response to a 911 call hang-up.
They found Elizabeth Evans dead and Taylor, 12112 San Chaliford Court, Tampa, wounded. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, the sheriff's office said.
Both were shot once in the neck, according to autopsies performed today.
The sheriff's office said Patrick Evans, 41, of 333 Hermosita Drive, St. Pete Beach, and Elizabeth Evans had been estranged for about eight months and were in the process of divorcing.
Patrick Evans is being held without bail at Pinellas County Jail.
