Bucs WR Antonio Bryant vs. Chargers CB Antonio Cromartie
Bryant has become a real force in the Bucs' offense the past few weeks. He has clearly regained his comfort level with the league, and he is making plays all over the field. He is proving to be tough to slow down one-on-one, but he could have a hard time beating Cromartie. Cromartie has the size, speed and athleticism to match Bryant nearly stride-for-stride, and he is a big-time playmaker. The one thing Cromartie doesn't do well is tackle. If the Bucs can get the ball into Bryant's hands, he should win the battle for yards because he'll require more than Cromartie to bring him down.
Chargers TE Antonio Gates vs. Bucs FS Tanard Jackson
Gates is a lot like Jerramy Stevens, only better. He has great speed and can really get open down the seam when he runs routes from his normal tight end spot. He is a regular target on third down and on long passing plays, and the Chargers will likely look to him early in an effort to keep the safeties out of the box. Jackson must play a disciplined game against Gates and not get caught out of position. He especially can't let Gates get behind him. If Jackson stands his ground and gets some help from a linebacker or slot corner, he should keep Gates from having too big a day.
