ORLANDO - Ray Ray Armstrong completed a 40-yard touchdown pass to Andre Debose with 33 seconds left and Sanford Seminole rallied from a 21-point deficit to defeat Miami Northwestern 28-21 Saturday night at the Florida Citrus Bowl in the Class 6A state final.
The title is the first for Seminole (13-2) and the first for a team from Seminole County.
Northwestern (12-2) was attempting to win its third consecutive 6A championship.
Seminole's final scoring drive lasted 12 plays and covered 80 yards. On third-and-15 from the Northwestern 40, Armstrong lofted a deep pass down the middle of the field that Debose snagged by outjumping a Bulls defender in the end zone, capping a remarkable Seminole comeback.
Seminole finished with 340 total yards. Northwestern had 288.
