Don't worry about finding a parking space at Tampa International Airport.
Holiday travel isn't as busy as years past. Airlines have 10 percent fewer flights coming in and out of TIA compared to last year, says airport spokesperson Brenda Geoghegan, the lowest number since the days after the 2001 terrorist attacks.
Winter weather in other parts of the country can have a domino effect on airports in the South, causing delays and cancellations on connecting flights. But so far today, TIA has had just a half-dozen delays out of its 500 scheduled daily flights.
The busiest time to fly is first thing in the morning before 8, and between 4 and 6 in the evening.
Airport officials say it's still a good idea to arrive at least an hour and a half before departure time for domestic flights and three hours before international flights.
Also, don't wrap any gifts you plan to take with you. It could cost you extra time getting through security checks.
