TAMPA - Some Bay area families were on the receiving end of a service today that put a holiday spin on the words "good government."
County employees gathered at Share Florida Food Network this morning to dole out more than 300 family-size baskets, each containing a 6-pound ham, fresh fruit and vegetables and a blueberry pie.
Families receiving the baskets were selected mostly through referrals made by county employees. The Hillsborough County Health & Social Services Department coordinated the program.
Donating food baskets is part of Hillsborough County's Small Acts of Kindness holiday program. County employees also participate in a toy drive and pet food drive.
