Published: December 22, 2008

What To Do This Month

Rake up fallen leaves. Use them as mulch or compost by layering them with a little lime and small amounts of fertilizer or manure.

Plant cold-hardy landscape plants, which establish easily during winter months.

What To Plant This Week

Rye grass seed: Fill in bare patches and water for a week. Rye will stay green through the cool months, then die off.

Vegetables: beets, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, celery, collards, lettuce, mustard, onions, peas, radish, spinach, turnips

Herbs and spices: chives, coriander, dill, fennel, garlic, oregano, parsley, sage, thyme
