St. Petersburg police are looking for a man they say robbed a Bealls outlet store Thursday morning.
About 11:10 a.m. at 3635 49th St. N., a man came to the register acting as if he was going to pay for merchandise. Instead, he showed the cashier a note demanding money, police say.
"The suspect lifted his shirt and showed the cashier a gun that was tucked in his waistband," a St. Petersburg police news release states. "Another cashier came over to assist with opening the till and was also shown the gun by the suspect. The cashiers opened the cash drawer, the suspect took out an undisclosed amount of money and then left the store on foot."
The suspect is a 30- to 35-year-old black man who weighs between 200 and 225 pounds. He is about 6 feet tall, with dark skin, a deep voice, a muscular build, a large nose and close cut hair. On Thursday morning, he wore maroon sweatpants, a black tank top, white tennis shoes and a red cap with a gray bill.
Those with information can call police at (727) 893-7780.
