Salonika's Bait and Tackle, 727-849-6377: The pier at the Anclote power plant outfall canal has been giving up some permit to 18 inches. Anglers there also report some pompano 12 to 15 inches. Both have been taking Doc's Goofy Jigs in yellow and white, tipped with frozen shrimp. Brasher Park, in Port Richey, has been a good spot for reds. Anglers have been finding fish 18 to 22 inches fishing oyster bars and mangroves there with live shrimp. When the bite has been on, it has been good but inconsistent and difficult to anticipate.

Masters' Bait and Tackle, 727-945-7191: Anglers fishing the outfall canal at the Anclote power plant have been taking good numbers of trout. Fish to 20 inches have been common, with some larger. Live select shrimp has been the bait of choice. Many anglers have left with limits of fish. A few flounder were reported by anglers fishing inside the Anclote River. Fish 12 to 14 inches have been taking shrimp fished on the bottom. Live small sardines also have taken a few fish. The bite has been difficult to rely on and targeting the fish may not be easy. A number of reds have been taken around the spoil islands just outside the Anclote River. Fish have been running 18 to 23 inches and taking shrimp well. When the tide is up, the fish have been around the mangroves.

Dunedin Bait and Tackle, 727-736-3474: A regular angler who stops by the shop was fishing the drawbridge on the eastern end of the Dunedin Causeway and landed a 30-inch gag grouper. The fish took a large live pinfish. Several short gags were released. It is unusual for a grouper that large to be taken from inshore waters. Both causeway bridges have been producing some trout, though fish are out of season in the region and being released. Many of those landed have been 19 to 24 inches, taking live shrimp and pinfish. An angler fishing the west side of Caladesi Island reported landing a 36-pound redfish that took a live shrimp. The same anglers landed a 25-pound red a few minutes later. Both oversized fish were released and no keeper-sized fish were caught.

Dunedin Fishing Center, 727-738-5628: Anglers fishing St. Joseph's Sound west of Crystal Beach have been finding some pompano 12 to 14 inches. Doc's Goofy Jigs in yellow and white and tipped with shrimp have been best. The bites have been short, as fish seem to be on the move. Anglers fishing along Dunedin's Edgewater Drive have been taking some reds around docks and bars. Fish from undersized to about 23 inches are being caught on live shrimp.

Pier 60, 727-462-6466: Good numbers of silver trout have been taken, along with whiting. Both species have been running 10 to 13 inches, taking frozen shrimp well. A few spotted trout are being taken along with them but are being released because the season is closed. Some of the trout have been more than 20 inches. A few 12- to 13-inch Spanish mackerel have been caught, despite the chilly water. Fish have been taking live shrimp and sardines, along with Clark's silver spoons.

Redington Long Pier, 727-391-9398: Whiting and silver trout have been the main catch. Fish 10 to 13 inches have been the norm, with shrimp the top bait. A few bluefish 14 to 15 inches are being caught on shrimp and silver spoons. Sheepshead have been a good bet for anglers fishing fiddler crabs or shrimp around the pier's pilings. Most have been 12 to 14 inches.
