The Temple Terrace Police Department has appointed its acting chief of police to fill the role permanently, the city manager announced today.
Lt. Kenneth Albano replaces A.L. Tony Velong, who retired Dec. 1, City Manager Kim Leinbach said.
Albano has been with the department since 2006. He has commanded the uniformed patrol, crime awareness and investigations divisions.
Albano worked for Plant City Police Department for 18 years. He also served in the Army's 82nd Airborne Division.
"I am humbled and very appreciative of this opportunity," Albano says in a written announcement.
Albano and his wife, Judy, have been married 21 years. They have one son, Anthony.
