A 19-year-old and a 69-year-old man were seriously injured in a two-car collision early Wednesday in Pinellas County.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 81-year-old Carl Carlson of Palm Harbor was turning left from U.S. 19 onto Lake Tarpon Drive just before 2 a.m. when his 2000 Chevrolet pickup collided with a 2000 Toyota car driven by 19-year-old Andrew Jaya of Clearwater, who was northbound on U.S. 19.
Jaya was seriously injured in the collision, as was David Robinson, 69, of Palm Harbor. Robinson was a passenger in Carlson's truck.
Jaya and Robinson are in stable condition at Bayfront Medical Center.
Both Jaya and Robinson were taken in serious condition to Bayfront Medical Center. Carlson received only minor injuries.
Jaya was cited for careless driving; Carlson was cited for violation of right of way.
