Hillsborough High To Expel Termites

SEMINOLE HEIGHTS - It is curtains for termites munching their way through Hillsborough High School.
That really huge tent covering the historical school, 5000 N. Central Ave., will be filled with gas to terminate the destructive insects.
With school closed for winter break, now seemed the time to tackle a weeklong project, school officials said.
"They don't have enough tarp to do the entire school at once," Hillsborough County School District spokesman Steve Hegerty said. "Throughout the week, what you're going to see is a moving tent."
About 6.8 million cubic feet will be tented, Hegerty said.
In three stages, each lasting about two to three days, workers will shift the tent and pump chemicals beneath it, ridding the school of the pests, he said.
The project is expected to cost about $379,000.
Haskell Termite & Pest Control is performing the work.
