Driver Dead After Car Smashes Into Bridge Support

Authorities are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash in Palmetto at interstates 75 and 275 that closed one southbound lane of I-275 ramp.
Jay C. Tight, 36, of Oldsmar, was pronounced dead at the scene after the 12:52 p.m. wreck.
Tight's 2000 Volvo was heading south on the I-275 exit ramp to I-75 when it left the pavement and struck a concrete bridge support, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Lt. Chris Miller said the impact was substantial. Troopers are trying to locate witnesses. Anyone with information should call (941) 757-7647, Ext. 131.
