Driver Killed In Gallagher Road Crash

A 51-year-old Plant City man died after a crash Friday afternoon on Gallagher Road near U.S. Highway 92, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Carl S. Meredith Jr. was driving a 1994 Chevrolet pickup south on Gallagher as another vehicle, a 2006 BMW, was heading east on U.S. 92.
Meredith failed to yield at a stop sign, and his vehicle headed into the BMW's path, according to the patrol. The front of the BMW struck the passenger side of the pickup.
The pickup overturned and Meredith, who wasn't wearing a seatbelt, was ejected, troopers say. He died at the scene.
The BMW's occupants, Stacey Shinneman and Jason Shinneman, had minor injuries and were taken to Tampa General Hospital, troopers say.
Portions of the intersection were closed for about three hours because of the crash.
