Car manufacturers were granted their bailout. The loan to them is the responsibility of taxpayers who are out of jobs and losing homes and health care perks. Some are even going hungry.
These individual taxpayers should be the recipients of the bailout. Taxpayers are the largest group of buyers in the marketplace.
We don't need more cars. Car lots are full of unsold cars, and other merchandise is begging for buyers. The banks can't loan money because there are no qualified borrowers.
We are helping the wrong people. Put the money where the need is and the market, from Wall Street down, will take care of itself.
