TAMPA - A scuffle over the television remote control this morning between a 13-year-old Tampa boy and his mother ended with felony child abuse charges being filed against the 38-year-old woman, who remained in jail tonight without a bail being set.
The confrontation occurred around 10:45 a.m. inside the woman's home at 1335 Sand Lake Circle, according to an arrest affidavit. Jacqueline Williams got involved in an argument over the remote control with her son when the woman grabbed her son by the throat and struck his face and head with her open hands, the report said.
The incident left the teenager with a cut and swollen upper lip. His name is being withheld because of his age.
The charge is a third-degree felony.
