Man Sexually Assaulted Autistic Girl, Police Say

A 35-year-old Tampa man remains in jail tonight, accused of raping a 14-year-old autistic girl who can't talk.

Clayton Don York, who was living with the family of the victim, was arrested this afternoon at the District 2 office of Tampa police. Officers said the victim's mother walked in on the two about 2 a.m. today. She told officers she saw York on top of her daughter, who had no clothes on, with his pants around his knees.

The girl does not verbally communicate, police said. She was brought in and examined; medical technicians determined that she had been violated and collected semen.

York was charged with sexual battery on a physically helpless person. Bail has not been set and he remains in the Orient Road Jail.
