A murder-suicide at a Dundee home in Polk County on Dec. 20 has claimed the life of a third victim.
Only known as Bridjnath, the 50-year-old man succumbed to his gunshot wounds at Lakeland Regional Medical Center on Friday, Polk County sheriff's deputies said.
Bridjnath was inside a home at 706 Adams Ave., with Kalowti Dhani, 49, when her ex-husband, Khemraj Dhani showed up. Bridjnath was Kalowti Dhani's first ex-husband.
Khemraj Dhani "was quite angry over the way his life had turned out," said Polk County sheriff's spokeswoman Donna Wood this afternoon.
Deputies said Khemraj Dhani, 51, broke out a window and began firing into the house, shooting Bridjnath five times and killing Kalowti Dhani. The shooter then used the gun to kill himself.
The Dhanis' 17-year-old daughter, who was on the couch, jumped up, ran into a bathroom, locked the door and climbed out to safety.
Bridjnath was taken to Lakeland Regional Medical Center where he remained in critical condition until he died about 4 p.m. Friday, Wood said.
