DADE CITY - The African American Heritage Society of East Pasco County Inc. is hosting the 2008 Kwanzaa Celebration.
Kwanzaa is an African-American and Pan African cultural holiday that is celebrated from Dec. 26 through Jan. 1. Seven principles are observed and discussed each day.
This year's celebration includes a three-mile Healthy Community Walk "to promote physical exercise as a means to healthy living," coordinator Harriet Craig said.
A teen summit was added as a forum to express concerns. "Both events are continuations of AAHSEPC's ability to serve the best interest of the community," Craig said.
The celebration kicked off Friday with the fourth annual Miss Kwanzaa Pageant.
