Hillsborough County Deputy Hurt In Crash

A Hillsborough County sheriff's deputy was hurt when her patrol car crashed tonight on Gunn Highway near Hampton Park Drive, authorities say.
The deputy was driving east on Gunn Highway at 6:20 p.m. responding to a call of a person who is mentally ill, the sheriff's office said.
The deputy swerved to avoid another vehicle that had turned in front of her on Gunn Highway, authorities say. The patrol car went into the westbound lane, sideswiped a second vehicle and was then hit by a third, the sheriff's office said.
The deputy, whose name was not released by the sheriff's office, was taken by ambulance to St. Joseph's Hospital. Her injuries do not appear to be life-threatening, authorities say.
The other motorists were not hurt.
