A man is recovering after jumping from this Clearwater condominium building to escape a fire Tuesday night.

The person who jumped off a second-story balcony to escape a fire Tuesday night has been identified as 60-year-old Gerald Parks, Clearwater public safety officials said this morning.
Parks had already leapt off the balcony when firefighters arrived at the two-alarm blaze at a condominium building at 171 Marina Del Ray Court at about 11:30 p.m., said Elizabeth Watts, spokeswoman for Clearwater's public safety department.
He was transported to Largo Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, she said.
The cause of the blaze at the three-story condominium building has been deemed suspicious, Watts said. .
Two units in the building were damaged, and one of them is uninhabitable, Watts said. There was damage to the second and third floors, Watts said.
There was an estimated $800,000 in damages.
