Razorbacks Shock Sooners

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Michael Washington had 24 points and 11 rebounds, and Arkansas handed fourth-ranked Oklahoma its first loss of the season, 96-88 on Tuesday night.

The Razorbacks (10-1) led by 25 points in the second half before the Sooners nearly pulled off a sensational rally. Oklahoma (12-1) cut the margin to 81-77, but Washington scored Arkansas' next seven points.

Willie Warren scored 35 points for the Sooners, while Blake Griffin had 21 points and 13 rebounds.

NO. 9 PURDUE 67

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Mike Tisdale scored 18 points and Illinois (13-1) defeated No. 9 Purdue (11-3) in overtime in the Big Ten opener for both teams.
Mike Davis scored 12 points and Trent Meacham added 11 for the Fighting Illini, who won their seventh straight.

NO. 13 SYRACUSE 100,

SETON HALL 76

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Eric Devendorf and Andy Rautins both hit three 3-pointers in a six-minute span in the first half, and No. 13 Syracuse (13-1) beat Seton Hall (9-4).

Rautins was 7-for-10 from beyond the arc and finished with 26 points for Syracuse.

NO. 6 WAKE FOREST 83,

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Jeff Teague scored 11 of his 19 points in the second half, and No. 6 Wake Forest (12-0) shook off a sluggish start to beat Radford (4-9).

Al-Farouq Aminu added 18 points and 10 rebounds and James Johnson had 12 points and 12 boards for the Demon Deacons.

COLUMBIA, S.C. - Terrence Oglesby had six 3-pointers and scored 25 points and No. 20 Clemson (13-0) defeated South Carolina (9-2).

The Tigers improved to 13-0 for the second time in three seasons after surviving USC's second-half rally.

NO. 25 BUTLER 72,

INDIANAPOLIS - Freshman Shelvin Mack made five 3-pointers in the first seven minutes of the second half to match his career high of 22 points and rally No. 25 Butler (11-1) from an 11-point deficit to beat Alabama-Birmingham (8-5).
