Two Men In Jail After Hernando Attack

Two men accused of robbing and beating an acquaintance and then stealing her car Friday are each in jail, the Hernando County Sheriff's Office said.
Gary Abbate and Gary Wayne Sharp, both of Brooksville, face attempted murder charges in the attack on 49-year-old Reba Myers at her home on Moon Road. They fled in Myers' blue 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer, the sheriff's office reported.
The victim was able to walk to a neighbor's house for help and was airlifted to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa for treatment. She is in critical condition.
Abbate was found and arrested on charges of attempted murder, armed robbery and grand theft auto. Sharp turned himself into deputies Sunday afternoon.
The stolen vehicle was found Saturday evening stuck in sand north of Whitehurst Pond off State Road 50 in Brooksville.
