Lakers Get Gasol From Grizzlies

TORONTO - The Los Angeles Lakers bolstered their banged-up front line Friday with a key acquisition - 7-footer Pau Gasol of the Memphis Grizzlies.

"It shows a great deal of commitment from the organization," All-Star Kobe Bryant said before the Lakers' game at Toronto. "It's a great step.

The Lakers gave up Kwame Brown, rookie Javaris Crittenton and two first-round draft picks for Gasol. The Spaniard is certain to help a Lakers team reeling from recent injuries to inside players, including blossoming center Andrew Bynum.

Turkoglu's Free Throws Lift Magic Over Philly

PHILADELPHIA - Hedo Turkoglu hit two free throws with 2.4 seconds remaining and finished with 23 points, and the Orlando Magic beat the Philadelphia 76ers 108-106 for their third straight victory.

Rashard Lewis added 18 points, Dwight Howard had 17 points and 14 rebounds and Carlos Arroyo scored 14 for the Magic, who earned their NBA-best 18th road win.

NETS 94, HEAT 85: Richard Jefferson scored 25 points and Josh Boone added 15 as New Jersey snapped a seven-game road losing streak.

Vince Carter had 14 points and 11 rebounds, and Jason Kidd finished with 11 points and 12 assists for the Nets.

LAKERS 121, RAPTORS 101: Kobe Bryant scored 46 points as Los Angeles beat Toronto. Bryant had the crowd gasping with several dunks, including one over Toronto's Carlos Delfino in the second quarter.

ROCKETS 106, PACERS 103: Rookie Carl Landry scored 13 of his career-high 22 points in the fourth quarter and Houston earned its sixth straight road victory.
Tracy McGrady had 19 points, Yao Ming added 17 points and 12 rebounds, and Shane Battier scored 13 points for Houston.

TIMBERWOLVES 104, CLIPPERS 83: Al Jefferson scored 25 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in three quarters and Craig Smith added 21 points for Minnesota.

JAZZ 96, WIZARDS 87: Mehmet Okur scored 27 points, 19 in the second half, and had 11 rebounds as Utah won their seventh-straight game.
