Police: Man Shot Buying Drugs

A man shot while buying drugs was found slumped behind the wheel of his Dodge pickup this morning in Bradenton, Manatee County deputies say.

John V. Emanuel, 38, was shot once in the right side, a Manatee County Sheriff's Office release states. He was taken to Bayfront Medical Center. His injuries don't appear to be life threatening.

Emanuel told deputies he was buying drugs from two people when one shot him, according to the release.

Emanuel drove a few blocks and stopped. Then he flagged down a van and asked the people inside to call for help.
